Good Afternoon Families.

This has been quite a school year! Despite the many challenges and changes that occurred throughout the year, our students persevered, and our wonderful teachers and parents/guardians worked extremely hard to ensure this school year was a success! We are grateful to all our families for partnering with us and continuing to remain flexible as we navigated through the various changes that came along. We are fortunate to be part of such a supportive community and are looking forward to returning to five days of in-person instruction this fall.

I would like to congratulate our 6th grade students who will be moving on to middle school this fall. I would also like to acknowledge and thank the families of these students for their tremendous support over the years. We wish all of you the very best!

Waples Mill Updates 4/16/2021

Good Afternoon Waples Mill Families,

Here are this week's updates:

Wednesday, April 21st is Purple Up Day!

April is designated as Month of the Military Child.  Across the country, military-connected children are celebrated for their resiliency and their service and sacrifice in the U.S. and overseas.  To honor our military-connected students, we would like to designate April 21st as our Purple Up Day! If possible, we’d love to invite students and staff to wear purple.  Wearing purple is a visible way for everyone to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices.

Why Purple? Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported.  All the service colors are represented including: Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue.  These colors combine for the mutual benefit of all into the color purple.

For more information about how to support military children, please see: https://www.militarychild.org/ .  If you have any questions pertaining to Purple Up Day, please contact our school counselor Amelia Abasolo at aaabasolo@fcps.edu or 703-390-7746.
